What does “digital” mean?

Two digits—1 and 0—lie at the heart of all of your electronic devices.  Your iPod, Dell laptop, Env2 cell phone, Blackberry, cable TV box, Wii, BluRay and anything else you can name all work by translating everything you see, hear or do as those two digits.  The electronic services you use, from telephone service and cable televsion to the Internet, also all work by representing everything you see, hear or do in gazillions of 1s and 0s.  So digital has become a common way to describe electronic devices.
