If I have a secure connection to a Web site, does that mean I can trust the Web site?

tag / secure https - network security - login security - Internet Trust Organization - internet security - https

Not necessarily.  A secure connection only assures you of the identity of the Web site, based on the information provided by the certifying organization, and that you have a secure, encrypted link.  (See also, What is a certificate?)  You should only consider giving personal information, including credit cards, to a Web site from an organization that you know and trust.
